Medicare rebates
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Medicare rebates up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Rebate amounts: $96.65 (registered psychologist) or $137.05 (clinical psychologist) per session (2024–25 rates).
NDIS
We support NDIS participants with psychology under Improved Daily Living (Capacity Building). Contact us to discuss your plan and confirm current availability.
Private health insurance
Some extras policies include psychology cover. Check your policy for benefit amounts and waiting periods. Private health benefits can be used in addition to Medicare rebates.
Self-funded

How a first session goes
Your first session is about getting to know each other. Your psychologist will ask about what has brought you to seek support, your background, and what you are hoping to achieve. There is no pressure to cover everything at once.
By the end of the first session, you and your psychologist will have a shared sense of direction — what you are working toward and roughly how you might get there. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether this feels like the right fit.
Sessions are 50 minutes. For telehealth, you will receive a secure video link before your appointment. For in-person sessions at Frenchs Forest, parking is available on site.
Your Companion between sessions
Primed Health patients have access to a secure patient portal — your Companion — where you can track your mood, complete check-ins, journal between sessions, and review your goals. Your psychologist can see what you choose to share, helping them prepare for each session with you. The Companion is not a crisis service; urgent support is always available through the resources in our header.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a GP referral to see a psychologist?
- You do not need a referral to book, but a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP activates Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. We can see you without one — you will pay the full fee.
- How much does a session cost?
- Our fee schedule is available on request. With a valid MHTP, Medicare rebates $96.65 per session with a registered psychologist or $137.05 with a clinical psychologist (2024–25 rates). Contact us to discuss your situation.
- Can I see a psychologist by video?
- Yes. Most of our psychology sessions are delivered by secure video across NSW. You need a device with a camera, a stable internet connection, and a private space. Medicare rebates apply equally to telehealth sessions.
- What happens in a first session?
- Your psychologist will spend time understanding your situation, what has brought you to seek support, and what you are hoping to achieve. There is no pressure to cover everything at once — the first session is about getting to know each other and beginning to map out a direction.
- How many sessions will I need?
- This varies considerably depending on your goals and presentation. Some people find 6–8 sessions sufficient; others benefit from longer-term work. Your psychologist will discuss this with you as your work together progresses.
- Is what I say confidential?
- Yes, with limited exceptions required by law — primarily where there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person. Your psychologist will explain confidentiality in full at your first session.
